*the resistance*

Welcome to the Resistance.

The 1776 Project is an organization dedicated to the principles of Constitutional Government. We believe that our American Constitution is the single most important civic document in the history of mankind. Its provisions, protections and prescriptions are all that is necessary and sufficient to the operation of a good, just and efficient government. Through peaceful protest, organization and radical action we believe that we can make a difference and recapture the vision our Founders portended for the United States of America.

We believe that the text of our Constitution is infused with objective meaning and that it derives that meaning from the concepts, arguments and careful deliberations of our Founding Fathers, and that to interpret and manipulate those meanings different from how they were intended is the result of a commitment to ideologies inconsistent with our governing document, and it is a disingenuous and insidious attempt to pass off those ideas as Constitutional.

We believe that if politicians want to change, edit, add, subtract or otherwise distort the provisions set forth in the Constitution that they must first follow the conditions for amendment found therein, and so take their case before the States of our Union and garner a 3/4ths majority in amending the Constitution. This action alone would guarantee that the citizenry had their say in whatever the federal politician is proposing.

We believe that if the Constitution is a living and breathing document that can change as our nation progresses, then what is the use of this Constitution in the first place if it is not to be heeded? Such a position leads inevitably to the disintegration of equal protection under the law and hence, oppression.

We believe that it is people acting freely and responsibly in their own pursuits of industry, academics, religion et al that causes our nation to flourish and that government meddling in those institutions stifles advancement and creates an unstable social order because of the constantly changing winds of political electioneering.

We believe that prosperity is best spread to all members of our Union through the efficacy of the free market and through the dynamic of citizens interacting with each other freely through commerce regulated only by the discipline of the individuals involved and by sound federal monetary policy, that if ever the discipline of the market were to fail or need adjustment that the only recourse the federal government has is to amend the Constitution to reflect those necessary adjustments, and that at no time is it right and just for elected officials to cherry pick which private industries are the benefactors of our tax dollars and which ones are not for the purposes of keeping those industries afloat.

We believe that social justice and economic parity is an inevitable result of liberty exercised responsibly through free trade and open markets and that state run social programs creates the opposite effect from what is intended in addition to creating jealousy, covetousness, misery and ultimately social disharmony as a result of class warfare.

We believe that Constitutional Government gives individuals the right to raise their children as they see fit and to send their children to whatever institute of learning a parent pleases without also incurring confiscatory taxes and fees for participating outside of the system.

We believe that most Americans agree with these and other related positions and that the current President's administration and members of Congress kick against the pricks of the mainstream when they force their un-Constitutional fees, taxes, mandates and programs on a free people.

We believe that we are the Resistance and that any and all action and will to resist the state's hungry hands of power and greed start with you.

#american activism#

Activism in America is alive and well...on the Left. Admitting this fact is our first step towards activating our base and charging ourselves to bring about the type of government our Founders envisioned.

It may be said that there is activism that resides in the Center-Right section of the political spectrum what with all the Tea Parties , Libertarian and Conservative organizations and the like. But these groups, although essential, focus their energies on other areas paramount to our cause and resistance. We agree in large part with these groups - they are the umbrella under which many others can operate - and consider them vital segments of our movement to once again capture a good and Constitutional government, but it is nevertheless the case that we all fall miserably short of energizing and mobilizing the elements of our society that need our ideas most: the young generation now entering the workforce, the middle class and the poor. For if our ideas of self-government, liberty, free markets and self-sufficiency are correct, then these ideas have the power to bring about not only the social justice that the above mentioned groups desire but these ideas have the ability to transform individuals, their communities and our nation. Our ideas and solutions can create a place where individuals, out of a sense of moral and/or spiritual duty, help their fellow Americans not at the behest of government intervention but as a result of the discipline and moral rightness of our positions and the social solutions that evolve therefrom.

So it is with activism of the sort that not only stages protests, engages in civil and social disobedience, polarizes the opposition and makes it into a caricature of itself, and inundates politicians with letters, phone calls and emails, but an activism that is involved at the grassroots level of, yes, community organization. We must not let the opposition continue to corner the market on helping the poor, reaching out to the laboring class, and appealing to youth. We must actively pursue these people. We must be a cause that enriches their lives through our service, our ideas and our efforts. Activism, American Activism, is more than just mobilizing during election season. It is always in season to help where we can, to brand and expand our message, and to bring our ideas to people and places that do not generally see the good hearted and self-motivating principles that make us independent American Activists. From this activism our grassroots efforts can turn into national action that will yield results in elections to come as well as forcing politicians to heed our demands and enact our reforms.

So, as you take the time to learn about our organization, keep in mind that this is your organization because it is only you acting
freely and responsibly who can help shift the tides of government control and dependency that flood the streets of D.C. and run through the halls of Congress and the White House. Always remember that they may have the power but we have the flesh and blood of free people.

*it takes action*

So, what kind of action is necessary for affecting reform?

The first thing necessary for affecting the kind of reform we need is for us to stop thinking we can change our government from within the confines of our normal lives. As independent and industrious Americans finding time to take action can be difficult because our sense of responsibility and individual drive to succeed and provide for our families typically trumps our desire to affect change in Washington D.C. However, while working at our jobs and attending our schools is vitally important to our family's and our personal futures it is worth noting that if we don't start acting
now to stop power hungry politicians from encroaching on our livelihoods any further, then the futures we are working so hard for at this time will become that much less prosperous and free later on. So, we must be willing to remove ourselves from our normal daily routines now to do what is necessary to secure our futures later. Taking action takes time and effort, and if we really care about our country as much as we say, then serving our country by taking action is one the few ways we have of fixing it. Of course, we are not asking for people to forsake their livelihoods - that is foolishness reserved for those who love only power and control. Instead we are asking people to adjust their lives in a such a way as to have the time to become messengers of freedom and self-reliance and vessels of reform. After all, we are industrious and notoriously hard working persons. We can find the time to make a difference, and what is more we can make a difference.

Secondly, we must also realize that though voting is an essential part of reform it is only an end result in what should be a concerted effort to ensure that we have done our part in finding the right candidates and in mobilizing the people necessary to win. Without taking the time to act and act swiftly we neglect our responsibility to ensure that we do not go into another election expecting a staggering loss.

Third, as stated above, voting is an essential part of the overall activity of activism. However, we mustn't rely exclusively on the lever pull at the ballot box. For as stated elsewhere in our call for Independence, Justice and Revolution the power of politicians to influence elections through money, manipulation and cheating puts us at a great disadvantage. And so it is through protest and civil disobedience that we must act to bring about reform. Granted, we cannot rely exclusively on the power of illegal protest but we must be willing to consolidate our numbers, activate our compatriots and hold massive rallies in the backyard of political industry, i.e. Washington D.C. must hear our voices not from our own state Capitols as in the recent Tea Parties but they must hear us directly through the walls that encompass their legislative sessions.

So, with these basic guiding principles in mind take the time to sign up and become active. Reform takes action!
